"We began cutting pallet cutstock and making pallets back in 1991 for a concrete company across the street. We had no idea that was the beginning of what we would become today. Dean came on with us in 2003 and that is when we decided to take D&D Pallets Ltd. to a whole new level. We became more involved with exporting our product to the United States and rebuilt the entire mill to compensate for the production. Now, most of our sales are in exporting pallet cutstock for the companies in California and that is why we now call ourselves D&D Lumber. There have been some great times and some tough times. We've had two floods and we've had the exchange rate drop down to par which is not very good for exporting! Overall, we wouldn't change a thing, we love what we do and want to keep growing and serving all those who work with us from our clients to our employees, trucking companies and suppliers of lumber and equipment."

"I had been sending my lumber into Dave's mill back in 1999 to have it remanufactured. I was then exporting it down to California. Dave and I quickly developed a brother-like relationship and thought that it would be wise if we specialized in what we both did best. Dave was great running the mill, the employees and all of the equipment. I had tried that once and didn't like it. My specialty was being on the phone, marketing and developing relationships with clients that soon became my friends. It only made sense to unofficially partner up with Dave and work the pallet cutstock together and we both haven't looked back! One of the most important thing to both of us is to develop a relationship with our clients and treat them like partners. The bottom line is that we care about helping our clients succeed. Let's face it, if they don't succeed, either do we! So we try to find out what is the best form of service to each individual company. Some like to be called all the time while others like an email every so often. I like to find out what works for them. Once we know that then the battle is half over and all we have to focus on is quality wood and hoping the prices stay competitive enough for them to keep coming back. |
